With the rapidly increasing severity of the current Coronavirus pandemic in the UK, the need for deep cleaning has raised and the NHS and the UK Government face increasing pressure to find extra beds for patients.

To help in part toward the provision of these vital extra beds, Government have instructed our client, Laing O’Rourke to hasten progress at their site, The Grange Hospital, in Cwmbran, Wales. Originally planned to receive its first patients in Spring 2021, a large part of the 55,000m2 hospital will now need to be ready and handed over in a matter of just a few weeks, with the end of April being cited as the final handover deadline.

An extra £10 million has been been approved by the Health minister to speed up the construction of specific sections which should result in the provision of an extra 350 beds.

Our team of specialist After Builders cleaners have been working at this site since summer 2019 when we first commenced our After Builders cleaning works on site. Our client, Laing O’Rourke, have requested that BRS significantly increase our labour on site and do whatever it takes to assist them with handing the specified areas over to the NHS on time. This is a matter of urgency and we are thus prioritising this project in order to play our part and do what we can. We are determined to work whatever extra hours are needed in order to help the UK Government with their mission of curing and assisting as many patients as possible and this cannot be done without the provision of extra beds.

Instead of just carrying out After Builders and Sparkle cleans to all areas of the hospital as is all that would be usually required of us at this stage, we are now going to be undertaking a thorough precautionary Coronavirus deep clean of all areas from top to bottom, ensuring that Government guidelines for deep cleaning in medical settings are followed and ensuring that all areas are thoroughly disinfected.

Fortunately, as well as specialising in After Builders cleaning for the construction industry, we pride ourselves in being ‘Responsive specialists’ and have also built up a wealth of experience in Reactive and Proactive Deep cleaning. We are now adapting to the current situation by focusing on our deep cleaning skills in order to deliver a high standard quality of service at such a critical time.

As a specialist deep cleaning company, it is our duty to do all that we can to help and our teams are working exceptionally hard, with a shared, ardent determination to get this project handed over on time, and with their usual passion to not only hand it over on time, but to ensure that it is delivered to the best standards yet. Just yesterday, cleaners were praised by Parliament as Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn paid tribute to the ‘extraordinary’ role of cleaners so far in their response to the Coronavirus crisis and indeed, we are immensely proud of our team. The British Cleaning Council have also stressed how cleaners are ‘Key workers’ as without their support, many vital functions would not be able to operate.
