BRS cleaners are thrilled to have been involved with a major project for Amazon. BRS carried out a range of cleaning works at the new Amazon distribution centre in Tilbury, Essex, which included internal cladding cleaning, high level cleaning, a general warehouse clean, deep cleaning of the main warehouse flooring using ride-on scrubber dryer machines and a general After builders clean to the office and welfare areas.

It will be the company’s 13th fulfilment centre in the UK, where Amazon employs a total of 15,500 people.

It was very exciting to be part of such as significant project for a rapidly growing international company and our cleaners enjoyed working at the hub of such a well-known company which is now a household name. It was crucial that all cleaning works were carried out to a high standard in order for Amazon’s cutting edge technology to be implemented on completion. Our teams of cleaners particularly enjoyed working in such an innovative environment where robots are the norm! The warehouse will be equipped with Amazon’s robotics technology, aimed at facilitating greater product selection and speeding up delivery. Product shelves move to the worker selecting items for delivery, and not the other way round, making the process quicker.

The robots slide under a tower of shelves where products are stocked, lift them and move them through the centre. Amazon said the technology also saved space, allowing for 50% more items to be stowed per square foot.
