We are very excited to have been awarded the cleaning contract for accommodation buildings at the Hinkley Point C Power Plant in Somerset. We are delighted to be the trusted to undertake these works by our client Caledonian Modular and main contractor Laing O Rourke.
When completed, Hinkley Point C will be the most expensive man-made object on Earth and is currently the biggest building site in Europe with 3000 workers on site every day. We are both privileged and excited to be a part of such a significant project.
Hinkley Point C is Britain’s first new nuclear power plant in over 20 years. This project will have a distinguished impact on our energy future and is worth £23B.
Our contract includes 44 accommodation buildings consisting of 1496 studios and communal areas.
We commenced contract works in December and our teams are working hard to make progress. So far, we have completed 15 buildings and our cleaning works are due to be completed in February 2019.
EDF Energy, being the UK’s largest producer of low-carbon electricity, the biggest supplier of electricity by volume in Great Britain and the largest supplier to British businesses, taking over this remarkable project, will be able to generate enough electricity for 5.8 million homes, 7 percent of the UK’s power for 60 years when fully operational.
Being chosen to carry out these works at such a landmark project is a huge achievement for us.
